Planting Possibilities in the Classroom

PROJECT SUMMARY:
In this project, second graders will take on the responsibility of maintaining classroom plants as a hands-on learning experience. Students will learn about plant growth, the needs of living organisms, and the importance of caring for the environment. Through daily tasks like watering, checking for signs of healthy growth, and adjusting light or moisture levels, they will develop an understanding of how plants thrive. This project will encourage teamwork, responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment as students watch their plants flourish.

PROJECT TITLE: AES and BVS L5 Bands travel to Niagara Splash for a Music Adjudication Festival

The former Martin’s Fantasy Island, now reopened under the name Niagara Splash is restarting their spring ,music festival this year. I would like to take both my L5 bands to join together as one, play a concert in the park together and be adjudicated by a professional musician for feedback.

PROJECT TITLE: 2 Whiteboard Tables for Academic Intervention Services (AIS) Classroom

PROJECT SUMMARY:

This proposal seeks funding for 2 whiteboard tables to be installed in our math and reading intervention classroom at Boston Valley Elementary. This innovative addition aims to foster collaborative learning, engage students in active problem-solving, and enhance instructional methods tailored to diverse learning needs. The requested funding amount is $878.00. At Boston Valley Elementary, we are committed to providing every student with the tools and resources they need to succeed academically. Our math and reading intervention classroom serves students who require additional support to meet grade-level standards. Currently, our classroom is equipped with traditional tables and materials, limiting interactive and collaborative learning opportunities. Whiteboard tables will transform our space into a dynamic learning environment that promotes creativity, engagement, and improved academic outcomes.

Children often face challenges with sensory processing and needs which can manifest a hypersensitivity or hyposensitivity to stimuli such as light ,sound, touch or movement. These difficulties can impact their ability to engage effectively in educational and social settings. A sensory room offers a controlled environment designed to reduce stress, stimulate or calm sensory input, and promote self-regulation, which is crucial for learning and emotional well-being.

This table encourages student creativity and learning using a dry-erase whiteboard surface with an adjustable leg height. It is perfectly built for problem solving in the classroom. This table is made with various options to serve the needs of my classroom. It is made with an 1-1/8 inch particle board, and each top has 3MM PVC edge banding. The table also has adjustable height that measures 21 to 30 inches.

PROJECT TITLE: Spanish Class Storytime

PROJECT SUMMARY:

In my class during each unit, I hold storytime for my students. Currently, they sit on the “magic carpet.” My carpet is magic because it is invisible 🙂 That is what I tell my students! Even though the students are in 7th and 8th grade, they really do enjoy storytime because it creates a sense of community within the classroom. It also is something that they have not done since they were little, so it is a big nostalgic for them.

PROJECT TITLE: Improve display for the annual K-12 District Art Show

Currently the Union Pleasant Elementary School art teachers have 1 Screenflex 9 panel display board that can only hold art for a fraction of our school population. It would be wonderful to have a second Screenflex fold out panel board to allow our UPES artists to shine!PROJECT SUMMARY:

I am a 3rd Integrated Co-Teacher at UPS. I am requesting materials to assist students with special needs on our playground. Our playground is not wheelchair accessible and these items would provide alternative options for students that are wheelchair bound. It will also assist those with sensory needs that have trouble accessing playground equipment. My intention is to share these materials with special education students in grades K-5.
