Making Math More Modern
PROJECT SUMMARY:
I also looking to have two high top stools purchased – these will be housed at my two standing desks. This allows for an alternative seating for students who like to work at the high top standing desks. Currently, I have two old wooden stools that ultimately are not in the best condition. Maintenance has taken these and used wood glue and screws to make them more sturdy until I get new ones. This grant would allow me to do that.
I also want to update my old chalkboards in my room to a whiteboard.
Students enjoy going to the board to show work. The chalkboards are old, and have marks on them from years of use.
I would like to have my side board updated with a large, magnetic whiteboard.
This will allow students to work both at the front and side boards to show their work. Many times I use small groups with peer teaching and review.

PROJECT TITLE:
Classroom Furniture/conferencing/editing/flexible seating area (Purchased from K-Log school furniture company)
I would like to have a place to meet informally with students in order to conference about writing, discuss work, or speak with a student more privately than at his or her desk in close proximity with other students, and not at my desk which implies a more direct “teacher-student” hierarchy/power based relationship, yet still maintain an appropriate professional balance. In order to do this I’d like to purchase a high top table and two stools which would fit in the back corner of my classroom. This is also close to outlets which could be used to charge Chromebooks, etc. It could also serve as flexible seating or merit based seating for students during class time. It would be a comfortable area and would be an asset to the classroom ambiance.
