Art Howe

Came to Hamburg from Wisconsin in 1920, to teach physical education. While at Hamburg, Mr. Howe coached football, basketball, and baseball. On October 7, 1950, the new school athletic field was dedicated as Howe Field, in honor of Mr. Howe, because he was so liked by the student body, and for his passion about Hamburg High having a new field. Legend has it, that Mr. Howe personally spent time chopping down trees, in order to clear the land for a new athletic field. In 1950, Howe and his family moved to Cortland, NY. Mr. Howe died in 1961
