Dean Yacobucci
Dean was an outstanding three-sport student/athlete while at Hamburg. Yacobucci played nose guard on the football team, earning Division II All-Star-1st team defense honors. He also won defensive MVP in the annual Lion’s All-Star game, featuring the best players of WNY. Dean also captained the wrestling team finishing his senior year with a record of 23-1, and taking 2nd place at the Section VI finals. In his senior year, Dean won all 4 tournaments he competed in, won Director’s Key in both Football and Wrestling, and was awarded the Courier Express Kelly Award, presented to the Athlete of the Year for Division II. Besides football and wrestling, Dean also threw shot put and discus while at Hamburg. During his career, Yacobucci held the school record in discus, and currently is ranked #3 all-time in this event. After graduating from Hamburg, Yacobucci went on to earn All-Ivy Distinction in both football and wrestling at Yale. After graduating from Yale, Dean went to UB Medical School, and completed his residency at University of California at Irvine. Dean became a pediatric interventional radiologist at Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
