George Michie

Class of 1947 – “Mitch” was a natural athlete and leader, who quarterbacked and was Captain of the Bulldogs undefeated football season in 1946. Michie said that when Coach Rodiek returned from war service in 1946, he installed the T-formation offense, and Michie was the first to run it. Michie was also awarded second team All-Star for the forward position in the Northern Erie County Basketball League during his senior year, and pitched and played infield for Hamburg’s baseball team. Michie once pitched a no-hitter, striking out 19 batters in the Junior Suburban League. After graduating from high school, George went on to play quarterback at Clarkson University, where he continued his aerial assaults on opposing defenses.
