Robert (Bob) Jones
Class of 1986 – Bob Jones was an automatic to make the inaugural Wall of Fame, with his athletic performance on the gridiron and in track & field. Mr. Jones held the WNY Long lump record of 23’11.5″, for 23 years (1986-2009). He was also the Section VI & ECIC Long Jump Champion for both indoors and outdoors his and was the 1986-Runner-up-New York State indoor and Long Jump Champion. During the fall, Mr. Jones played running back on the football team, where he set the Hamburg school single season rushing record of 940 yards. In 1985, Mr. Jones was named 2nd New York-Running back and was a Connelly Cup player of WNY) nominee. During the 1986 Lions All-Star football, Mr. Jones was named MVP-offense (South) for his performance. After graduating from Hamburg, Mr. Jones went to Alfred U. where he became an All-American and was team Captain in both football and track & field.
