Robert Leberman

Class of 1950 – Bob Leberman was the first freshman athlete to play a varsity sport (football) at Hamburg. During his senior year, Bob played on the 1949 undefeated football team that outscored their opponents 243-21. He was lightning quick, and once ran a 10.0 -100 yard dash and leaped 22’6″ in the long jump while at Hamburg. Leberman went on the play football at Syracuse and played in the 1953 Orange Bowl and the 1953 Blue-Grey All-Star game. Bob later played defensive-back, for the Baltimore Colts, with Hall of Famer Johnny Unitas. After his football career ended, Bob was Vice President of Institutional Development at Bradford College. Unfortunately, Bob died in November 2007, at the age of 75.
