Susan Kantra (Knoche), Class of 1988

Susan Kantra sprung on the Varsity Track team as a 7th grader and for the next 5 years, helped the Hamburg Girl’s track team dominate WNY! To describe Susan as fast would be a gross understatement! At the time of graduation, she held the school record in the 100, 200, 400-metcr outdoor and the 50 and 55-meter indoor record, leading the Lady Bulldog Track teams to several Undefeated Section VI championships! In fact, during Susan’s six-year tenure, the Lady Bulldogs track and field teams only lost one meet in 6 years!! Susan was Section VI Champion in the 100 and 200M, in 1986 and 1988, which made her the fastest female student in Western New York! She went on to compete in State Track Championships, competing in the 100 and 200M, and won the 100 and 200M at the Empire State Games in 1986, earning her Channel 7 “Athlete of the Week”. Currently, Susan and her teammates still hold the Hamburg school record in the 400M relay. Today, Susan a teacher’s aide at the Hamburg Middle School, focusing on special education.
