Tim O’Shea, Class of 1983

Tim grew up in North Boston and attended Hamburg Central School from kindergarten until graduating from Hamburg High School in 1983. During high school he was a three-sport athlete, playing lacrosse, football, and wrestling. Tim was an outstanding midfielder and face-off man for 4 years on the varsity lacrosse team. During his senior year, as a co-captain, he was recognized as the first All-American in the history of Hamburg High school lacrosse. Tim’s high school lacrosse coaches, Dave Evans and Ed VanTine, and his brother, Marty, were instrumental in instilling Tim’s love for the game. Their coaching, leadership, and mentorship impacted him on and off the field.

Tim attended the State University of New York College at Geneseo where he received his degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education. Tim was a leader on the Geneseo lacrosse team for several years before knee issues ended his collegiate career. At Geneseo, Tim met his wife, Yvonne McGann, and they were married in 1989.

After graduation, Tim moved to Rochester and took a position with John Hancock Financial Services. Over the next 13 years, Tim built a financial-planning practice while also managing a successful sales unit. In 2001, he moved his practice to Lincoln Financial Advisors where he also had management responsibility for the Northern New York offices. As a result of his effective leadership of these offices, he was promoted to Divisional Vice President, overseeing all Lincoln advisors the Northeast Division.

Tim and Yvonne have lived in the Rochester area for over 30 years; first in Fairport and then in Victor, where they raised their two sons, Collin (31) and Trevor (30). Excellent athletes themselves, both boys excelled and were leaders in lacrosse and hockey at Victor High School.
