Tom Toles

Tom Toles began his career at The Buffalo Courier-Express, then went on to become the editorial cartoonist for The Buffalo News, The New York Daily News, U.S. News and World Report and The New Republic. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning in 1990. Since 2002 he has been the editorial cartoonist for The Washington Post, and is syndicated in nearly 200 publications worldwide. In addition to the Pulitzer Prize, Toles has received the National Headliners Award, the Overseas Press Club Thomas Nast Award, the John Fischetti Award, the H.L Mencken Free Press Award, and the Herblock Prize. He was named Cartoonist of the Year by Editor & Publisher magazine in 2002, The National Cartoonists Society in 2003 and The Week magazine in 2005. Toles also produced a syndicated comic strip, “Curious Avenue,” and a syndicated panel, “Randolph Itch, 2 a.m.” In 2001 Mr. Toles authored the children’s book “My School Is Worse Than Yours”.
