William Rodiek
Perhaps the most beloved teacher, administrator, or athletic director that has ever graced the halls of Hamburg High School. Mr. Rodiek, was a legendary football coach, who had 3 undefeated seasons in ’46, ’49, and ‘59. He was also a driving force behind the successful track & field teams that became accustom at Hamburg during his tenure. In fact one of the biggest track meets of the ECIC season is named in his honor. In addition to coaching, Rodiek was past President of ECIC and Section VI, and NYSPHSAA representative of Track and Field. One of Mr. Rodiek’s greatest triumphs was being instrumental in gaining official recognition of girl’s interscholastic sports throughout WNY. Mr. Rodiek also started the Varsity “H” club in 1947, which is still going strong today! Mr. Rodiek passed away suddenly in 1969.
